General printed products will adopt two lamination processes, glossy film or matte film, to improve the texture of the finished product. Some will also adopt partial lamination to meet the needs of printing. So, what is the difference between glossy film and matte film? Let's find out together.

Glossy film is also called light film: it can be seen from distinguishing the color of the surface, glossy film has a bright surface; it is transparent and bright after lamination.

Matte film: it can be seen from distinguishing the color of the surface, matte film has a foggy surface; after lamination, it forms a matte frosted-like matte surface; it is generally used for lamination on the cover of sheet paper materials, such as business cards, books, albums, posters, color boxes and other products. Lamination cannot be used for partial lamination. If you need to achieve the partial lamination effect, you can use other processes, such as UV, oil coating and so on! At the same time, there are other transparent films made of PVC material, which are generally produced in small quantities and rarely used by users.

Glossy film can generally be effectively distinguished from the surface of the printed product. The surface of the album after being laminated with glossy film will be very bright with good gloss.

While the surface effect of matte film is foggy. The reason why it presents such a state is that it adopts matte frosting during the lamination process, so it looks more artistic. And it will feel uneven to the touch, not as smooth as glossy film.

It is understood that BOPP film is often used in the printing process, and its film composition is BOPP+EVA double-layer composite film. Both glossy film and matte film use this material, only differing in the later operation process. But neither is too complicated, and enterprises can also choose with or without adhesive layer according to their own needs. Adding an adhesive layer can effectively guarantee the durability of the album. Considered from a long-term perspective, it can save costs for enterprises.

In addition to glossy film and matte film, other processes can also be used, such as UV varnishing, gold stamping, silver stamping and other processes. UV varnishing can make printed products more durable, and gold stamping can effectively enhance the luxury feel of printed products, but the price will be relatively higher. If the enterprise has no special requirements, adopting glossy film or matte film process can effectively improve the texture of the album.
